Office-Use vs. Patient-Specific Medications
Patient-Specific Medications
Patient-specific medications are those that patients self-administer (e.g., oral capsules). These require a provider-issued patient-specific prescription, which is then processed by our 503A compounding pharmacy and shipped directly to the patient.
Office-Use Medications
Office-use medications are administered by healthcare providers in a clinical setting. While 503A compounding pharmacies primarily focus on patient-specific prescriptions, some state regulations allow limited compounding for office use. These medications must comply with state pharmacy laws and USP guidelines to ensure quality and safety. Healthcare providers can order these medications as permitted by state regulations to maintain an inventory for in-office treatments.
